The first-ever Civic Summit was held at the Mandeville City Hall on Monday, August 9, 2010. Mayor Villere and the city's key department heads were in attendance seeking input from civic leaders affecting our residential neighborhoods. This was an excellent opportunity for civic leaders to meet those city government representatives who are most likely to handle matters of importance to the civic community. The event was very informative and rewarding.
As President of the Shadows Property Owners Association, I'm proud to announce that we have joined the Mandeville Civic Coalition (MCC). The Mandeville Civic Coalition came into existence as a result of the objections of the Shadows and Fontainbleau Property Owners Associations to the "proposed" Holiday Inn Hotel on Lovers Lane.
Information travels faster today than ever before. While television, radio, and newspapers are still integral parts of our lives, the internet along with smart phones, email, social networking, and other technologies are fast becoming our primary means of communication. We thought it was time to use more of today's advanced technology to help our neighbors stay in touch with each other, our community, and the world.
